Mike Ascroft Speaks for All Northeast Portland

which is why I put his comments verbatim on my blog:

I want to let you know that I found your article [Who’s doing the shooting? In Portland It’s not the police, 16 Dec 2014] highly inappropriate and bizarrely judgmental. It was so redolent with bias and subjective observation that it cannot be called journalism.

To conflate the issues of gang violence and police violence is to show a lack of understanding of either issue at the same time that it seems to justify one due to the other.

Worse still, it ignores the fact that Portland has seen its police shoot unarmed black men, in one case with his hands raised in the air.

Articles like this one discredit your paper and call into question all of the reporting that can be found in its pages.
