A Moment Like Many Other

Last Thursday night at the Bipartisan Cafe is recorded here due to the efforts of Party member Mark Seibold, who set up the camera.

Perhaps three minutes or so of political wrangling is more than enough, but in this tape I tell Dan Krebs, with gray beard, Mark, and Progressive Party member Jimmy Tardy, who had already said his piece on dealing with police, and who is not engaged at this time, actually he’d already heard me say it — I say that the public officials responsible for police accountability in this city, namely the members of the Citizen Review Committee, the head of the Independent Police Review Division and his boss, the City Auditor, all say publicly that there is no, none, zero effective police discipline; and then at City Council the chief of police goes up and testifies that “the system is working just fine”!  It is time, I say, for a campaign of nonviolent civil disobedience around the issue of accountability for the Portland Police.
