An Old Press Release

Oakland, California

1 September 1982 [my father’s birthday! He was 76.]

Plans for the publication of the first English translation of Karl Marx’s mathematical manuscripts have matured recently with the completion of negotiations with the publishers New Park Ltd., situated in London, England, and the signing of a written contract between translators and publisher.

New Park Publications has recently produced a multi-volume translation of Leon Trotsky’s collected military works.

The projected publication date is set for March , 1983, one hundred years after the death of Marx.

Two former University of California at Berkeley scholars, C. Aronson and M. Meo, regard the agreement as the culmination of a five-year search for a publisher for their translation, drafted using hospitable assistance of the university’s department of mathematics during the summer of 1977 and subsequently offered to over 30 U.S. firms.
